Improve your smile with ultra-thin porcelain veneers.

Veneers are thin, custom made shells crafted to cover the front sides of teeth, designed to mimic natural teeth and customized to create a new smile for a patient. They are an option for correcting stained, chipped, decayed or crooked teeth or rejuvenating a patient`s smile and look.

Veneers are often made of porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain veneers are stronger than composite resin veneers and do not change color or stain over time and are usually a long-term option. Generally, porcelain veneers take at least 2 dental visits to apply and composite resin veneers can be done in 1 visit. Porcelain veneers generally last longer than composite resin veneers.

Usually the best option before starting veneers is to create a wax up model or use digital design software to show the patient what kind of results to expect and work together with us in making any changes to the shape, size and color of the teeth before starting the process.

How are veneers created?

Veneers are created in a dental laboratory using very thin porcelain and crafted by hand or in some cases designed and scanned digitally. Great attention is paid to the details so that the veneers look realistic. Before the veneers are created, we will typically create an impression of your teeth and a model of your mouth for correct sizing and shaping this is called a “wax up”. Working together with the patient and the patient's expectations we are able to create a desired smile.

How will my original teeth be affected?

To create a realistic smile that isn’t bulky or obtrusive, we will shave down your original teeth but a very small amount. They will permanently reshape them, removing enamel so that the veneer can fit comfortably on top of the original teeth. And yes there are options that don’t require us to shave a tooth but rather us NON prep veneers or Lumineers

How long will the process take?

After the veneers are created (this typically takes a week or so), you will probably be asked to schedule two visits: one to reshape the teeth and one to bond the veneers to your teeth. In certain cases we are able to finish within 5 days.

How should I care for my veneers?

Care for your veneers just as you would care for your teeth, brushing and flossing as usual. If you have a habit of grinding your teeth at night, let your dentist know; you will probably be asked to wear a bite guard to minimize the stress placed on your teeth and veneers.

What are the advantages of veneers?

Veneers give teeth a natural look and give our patients a new smile. Because they are very thin and are held in place by a special, strong adhesive, very little preparation of the tooth is needed making this a minimal evasive technique. Some types of veneers don't need any preparation at all.

Is everyone a candidate?

Not everyone is a candidate for veneers, certain patient cases can't be treated with veneers. A detailed dental examination is needed and a bite analysis. As easy as veneers look and sound for perfect results certain criteria must be met. Only after a patient's bite has been analyzed can we confirm a patient is a candidate for such treatment.

Will my veneers look like natural teeth?

Yes, veneers should mimic natural teeth. The main aspect is to take into consideration is the color of the natural teeth, since veneers are so thin the natural teeth are used as a background so in some cases where you may of seen that someone has veneers it is probably.
